How to unlock the user without password reset
If any user try to login many times and failed. Sql server 2005 locked account automatically then that user try to login (other than sa for example “testuser1” user) in MS SQL Server and it shows the account be locked.
when he try into SQL Server Management Studio to unlock the testuser1 account, you receive this message:
“Reset password for the login while unlocking”
To unlock the user you can try logging by ‘sa’ account and unlock the testuser1 user by executing this command
Alter login [testuser1] with PASSWORD = 'pass1word23' UNLOCK or SQL Server Management Studio --> Security --> Logins --> sa --> Properties --> unchecked: Enforce password policy. or
ALTER LOGIN WITH CHECK_POLICY =OFF ALTER LOGIN sqluser WITH CHECK_POLICY = ON;
IT can also be done byt using the GUI. The highlighted option needs to be unchecked and checked again after clicking Ok.
The sql user account was unlocked without changing the password in this way.
